Burke W. Whitman is a chief executive, board director, and former US Marine commanding general. Currently, he serves as chief executive of Colmar Holdings and a member of the boards of directors of Omega Healthcare Investors (NYSE) and Amicus Therapeutics (Nasdaq). Previously in business, he was CEO of HMA (NYSE Fortune 500), CFO of Triad (NYSE Fortune 500), and president of Deerfield Health, all merged with other companies. In parallel, he served 34 years as a reserve infantry, recon, and general officer of US Marines, with 14 years cumulatively on active duty during which he led multiple deployments including peace enforcement in Bosnia and multiple combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan; commanded combat forces at all levels including commanding general of a Marine Division and Marine Forces; and finished as a general officer with the Secretary of Defense. As a volunteer, Burke has served on the boards of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, Toys For Tots Foundation, Federation of American Hospitals, Secretary of Defense Reserve Forces Policy Board, Buckhead Coalition, Marine Corps University, Lovett School, and as a member of Business Executives for National Security. Burke is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Harvard Business School, the Army War College, and Nashotah Theological Seminary, and is a university lecturer and speaker. Institutional Investor magazine named him a Best CFO and Best CEO; the nation awarded him two dozen military decorations including the Distinguished Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbons, and Presidential Unit Citation; and Dartmouth awarded him its James Wright Award for Distinguished Service for a lifetime exemplifying the ideals of service, college, and country.
